President's Message

Fellow Lions,

First, I would like to recognize our Immediate Past President Teo Bee Bee for her impactful performance during this challenging year.

It is an honor to serve as the Club President of the Lions Club of Singapore Clarke Quay for the fiscal year of 2021-2022. I appreciate your confidence in my ability to serve what is in the best interest of members, and to lead our club a step further toward excellence.

I also want to thank my sponsor Past President Jennifer Ong, our fellow advisors (PDG William Kwok, CP John Tan, PP Adrian Wong), 1st VDG SK Ho, and Past Presidents who endorsed me, and provided me great guidance and support. Furthermore, I am fortunate to have a broad range of upcoming supports from our elected club officers and board of directors.

Our Club is seen as one of the flagship clubs in the district, on several measures. We are the 8th largest club, and the 1st largest contributor to the LCIF's Melvin Jones Fellowship within our district this year. We are an active, fun, friendly, honest, reliable, well respected, cohesive, professional, and committed club. It is my hope that we continue to work as a TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) to increase the level of visibility and publicity of our club, to the wider community through the most effective ways.

Fellow Lions, it is my determination to work in close co-operation and collaboration with all the members by respecting your ideas through accepting diversity and growing agile alongside each other.

Life is always moving forward, nothing ever remains the same, yet most people do not manage to change effectively and positively. Lions let us be agents for change. Our creative and yet impactful service and fundraising projects should give us a leg up and touch people's lives in a deep and lasting way. Let us continue to grow in membership, young and old in harmony ready to face future challenges.

I would like to express my hope dream that we transform our possibilities and opportunities into stories of success behind our club – to be the first future-ready Lions Club in Singapore. Let me say that as a club we have tremendous assets - our members, our reputation, our stable financial picture. But we cannot for a minute assume we can rest on our laurels.

I appeal to each of you to think of how you will make our Club a little brighter this year. How you will shine your light on a project or initiative to make it more successful, how you support and attend Club events - because that is how you brighten up everyone else in the world.

Finally, quoting an old Chinese proverb - it is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. Therefore, let us start lighting those candles, let us shine our light brightly around us, and keep making a difference, let us bring out the star quality in each of us make our 26th year one to remember!

I look forward to your active involvement and support in the year ahead. Thank you.
